Fighting Aiptasia

Glass anemones ( Aiptasia spp.) are among the most common and persistent pests in saltwater aquariums. Their rapid reproduction and potent stinging cells can cause lasting damage to other sessile organisms, especially corals.

The marine nudibranch Berghia stephanieae represents a natural and highly specialized solution for the biological control of glass anemones. It feeds exclusively on Aiptasia anemones and thus effectively contributes to the regulation and elimination of this pest – without the use of chemicals or interference with the aquarium's ecological balance.

Our captive-bred specimens come from controlled breeding conditions and are free of parasites and pollutants. They offer a sustainable and scientifically sound method for controlling glass anemones – for a stable and healthy reef aquarium.
